Playful Opportunities webinar
Let's explore fun ways to make our spaces engaging, interactive, and thought provoking! Play is crucial for early literacy development, but how do we get our community to engage with these carefully curated activities and spaces? You will leave this session newly inspired with fresh ideas for scavenger hunts, StoryWalks, self-directed programming, and designing safe spaces for our smallest patrons. 1 hr / 1 LEU
Register here and a Zoom link will be sent to you.
If you cannot attend the live webinar, request to have the recording sent to you when it is ready (usually within 30 days of the live session) via this form. The webinar will also be posted on the Indiana State Library's Archived Training page.
Presenters:
Kelsey Fickinger is the Head of Youth Services at Peabody Public Library in Columbia City, Indiana. Being a librarian has been the dream since she started volunteering in the school library instead of going to recess (yes, she was that kid). Kelsey started her professional library career with the Allen County Public Library in 2016 where she began as a part-time assistant. When she am not at the library, she is wrangling her crazy 2-year-old son and trying to convince him that she is just as cool as Ms. Rachel (he still doesn’t believe her).
Emily Leitch is the Teen Librarian at Peabody Public Library in Columbia City, Indiana. Emily describes herself as "just a girl from a small town with dreams of becoming a difference maker in my community." She has been at The Peabody Public Library since 2021 and that dream has come true. Emily works with teens to help them remember that they are loved, seen and important by encouraging them to be who they are and providing a safe space for them to do just that. Outside of work she has a wonderful husband, and is an animal mom, ghost hunter, and antique lover.
